Due to his long-standing experience as a senior research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich, Kaya is often asked for legal opinions on complex subject matters. He also has had various visiting lectureships from universities in Germany and Turkey.

Kaya is frequently invited to speak at national and international conferences and publishes frequently in legal journals. He also published a book on a legal comparison of the Turkish, German and European patent law (PhD studies).

His working languages are German, English and Turkish.

Since 2010, Kaya is frequently appointed as a UDRP Panelist by the World Intellectual Property Organization for international domain name disputes.
