Rules of professional practice are available in German and in English on the website of the German Federal Bar (www.brak.de) and can be downloaded from the section “Berufsrecht” (Professional Code) on the homepage. These rules prohibit lawyers from performing duties, in which they have conflicting interests, (BRAO § 43a Article 4) and thus, before the acceptance of a proxy, it is always inspected whether there is a conflict of interest or not.
Dispute Settlement
Disputes between lawyers and their clients can be settled upon request before the Munich Local Bar (pursuant to the § 73 Article 2 No. 3 relating to BRAO § 73 Article 5) or before the Settlement Office of Lawyers of the Federal Bar (BRAO § 191 cont.).
